Federal Benefit Payments are Going Electronic
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced in December 2010 that all federal benefit and non-tax payments will be paid electronically. Everyone now applying for federal benefits will receive their payments electronically. People who already receive federal benefits by paper check must make the switch to direct deposit or to the Direct Express Debit MasterCard card by March 1, 2013.
